TREASURE VALLEY RADIO ASSOCIATION
held April 14, 1977
“At 7:30 Pm. This evening, 21 persons meet [sic] at VIP’s Motel in Ontario, Oregon to discuss starting an Amateur radio club. Lowell Bye, WA7HOS, welcomed the group and explained the proceedure [sic] of forming a club. It was decided that the easiest proceedure would be to re-institute the Treasure Valley Radio Association, a club which existed in the pasted [sic] but was disband[ed] due to lack of member intrest [sic].
“Jim Johnson, W7TYG, called a meeting of the Treasure Valley Radio Association to order with 3 members present. Loretta Pettet, WA7IVU, made the motion to make all persons present to act as voting members for the evening only. Jim Stanton seconded it and the motion passed. The T.V.R.A. Constitution was read and discussed. M. R. (Trapper) Neary, N7AA, made the motion to change Article II to read:
“ ‘Any person shall be eligible to membership in the association --------. Only licensed radio amateurs may be full members of the association.’
Keith Richey seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Trapper, N7AA, made the motion to except [sic] the constitution as rewritten. Being seconded by Larry Tate, motion passed unanimously.
“Next By-Laws were discussed to set a[n] annual dues and meeting date and time. Keith Richey made the motion to assess members an annual dues of $5.00 per member. Being seconded by Jim Stantion [sic], motion passed unanamously. It was decided to hold regular meetings once a month. It was moved by Keith Richey and seconded by Carol Peterson to hold meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. Motion passed. Meeting place to be decided later.
“It was moved and seconded to postpone election of officers until next meeting, with Jim Johnson, W7TYG, to act as President pro-tem and Lowell Bye, WA7HOS, as secretary pro-tem until next meeting when regular officers will be elected. Motion passed.
“Lowell Bye, WA7HOS, explained the proceedure and advantages of club affiliation with the ARRL. It was decided to wait until a later date to decide on affiliation as a majority of members are awaiting results of Novice Examinations given by Lowell Bye, WA7HOS, on April 1, 1977 after taking a novice course taught at TVCC by Lowell and Ben Cook W7MHR.
“A door prize drawing was held with Bill Peterson winning a field strength meter donated by Snake River Communications and Mari Jenssen winning a meter donated by Ben Cook W7MHR.
‘Meeting was adjourned at 9:40 PM.
