TVRA Members Assist with Fruitland, Idaho Parade [12. May. 2008 - 06:07]

Members assist with public service project.

May 10, 2008. The group of Amateur Radio operators shown here provided traffic control assistance during the annual Fruitland City parade. This assistance to the city police allowed the officers to parade their vehicles during this event. Our members enjoy this outting each year and the city police requests our assistance each year. This event and others like it help to prepare local amateur radio operators in providing emergency communications when needed.

An added feature this year is a All-You-Ca-Eat Spaghetti feed on Friday,May 30th (Opening day of Sea-Pac), to be held from 5pm to 8:30pm at the Seaside Fire Hall, 150 S. Lincoln, Seaside, Oregon. This fund raiser is sponsored by the Sunset Empire Amateur Radio Club and the Seaside Tsunami Amateur Radio Society of Clatsop County, Oregon.

Cost is $7 per person (adults), $5 per person (children 6-12), and children 6 and under free (children must be accompanied by parents/guardians). Licensed hams get $1 off at the door, and entry gets you one free door prize ticket.

 
This is going to be a fun evening, and a great end to a drive-in to Sea-Pac, knowing that a great meal will be waiting for you. As always, Sea-Pac itself will have drive-in help on the local linked repeaters(145.450/146.660/444.775, all with standard offsets and a PL of 118.8), and the Spaghetti Feed will have drive-in help on the locally used Simplex frequency of 146.00.

2008 K7OJI Social Breakfast

A group of area ham radio operators from the K7OJI Treasure Valley Amateur Radio club met at 9:30 for a monthly breakfast get together. Members and guest enjoyed their favorite breakfast and a lot of good fellowship. If you were not in attendance, plan to join the group in the near future.

 One of Idaho and Treasure Valley Radio Association's good friends is now a Silent Key. Ken Hastings W7NPO passed away last week. He was an active FARM Net Member, a long time QCWA member and a W5YI volunteer examiner. He was a friend to every amateur radio operator in the state of Idaho. Ken's funeral was held in Burley, Idaho on November 30, 2007. He was known as the Nickle Plated Oscillator and will be missed by the whole Ham Radio community.

Treasure Valley Radio Association holds Election of Officers

At the November TVRA Club meeting, the election nominating commettee presented us with a slate of officer canidates. Nominating Committee consisted of Jim Johnson W7TYG and Ben Cook W7MHR. They provided the following candidates for consideration as 2008 Officers.

Nominations were excepted and Chairman Johnson opened each position for additional nomination from the floor. No other canidates was added so an election of officers was held with the following results.
